I joined North Canyon Medical Center in April, 2014. I’m originally from Logan, Utah and I attended Utah State University, which ultimately led me to a Masters of Healthcare Administration at the University of Minnesota. I started in healthcare on the clinical side while pursuing interests in physical therapy and then transitioned to the administrative side. While working for a number of healthcare organizations throughout the country I realized that I enjoyed the lifestyle in the West and wanted to find an organization that reconnected me to the personal touch of healthcare. My family and I reside in Gooding, Idaho and we enjoy being active with sports, music, and the outdoors.
Over the last 25 years, I have been privileged to develop my financial management skills at a variety of different companies, both privately held and publicly traded. I was honored to join the North Canyon team, at the beginning of 2022, and truly look forward to making a positive impact in the incredible communities we serve.
My Bachelors degree was earned at Brigham Young University (Provo, UT), while playing collegiate soccer for the Cougars. I then completed my MBA in Finance at San Diego State University (San Diego, CA).
Outside of my career ventures, my family is where I like to spend my time. I have been married for 26 years and have 3 amazing children. We enjoy all forms of outdoor recreation and basically anything that drives competition. I still enjoy playing “old man soccer” and I have been coaching this amazing sport for over 20 years.
My adventure with North Canyon Medical Center started in 2014 and it has been an amazing ride. The growth of the organization has brought with it many challenges, which I believe were important steppingstones to prepare me for the CNO position. Expanding my skills and knowledge throughout this journey has always been of importance to me. I have a Bachelor of Nursing and Master of Science Nursing Informatics from Western Governor University. My expertise is in both the EMR and clinical side of nursing and I enjoy mentoring my staff and assisting with conflict management and mitigation. In my tenure at North Canyon, I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of nursing roles including LPN in Family Medicine, Clinical IT, RN in the Medical-Surgical and Emergency Departments, and as Nurse Manager prior to being named CNO. I am proud to be part of this wonderful organization and look forward to being part of its continued success and growth.
Mak Danhounsrou leads North Canyon’s Business Development, with responsibility for Strategy, Marketing, and Philanthropy. He was previously a Managing Member for Boulder Creek Transportation (BCT), a Private pay NEMT located in Boulder County, Colorado. Mak was responsible for the company’s increasing expansion efforts into adjacent counties.
Before joining BCT, Mak served in Support Services and operations leadership roles at Sutter Health-Mill Peninsula Medical Center.
Mak earned a Master of Sciences in Healthcare Management and Policy from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Syracuse University.
I have been with North Canyon Medical Center since November 2010 and have seen the organization grow to what it is now. I was born and raised in Idaho and enjoy the small-town feel. Since 2001, I have had the opportunity to work for different health care systems across the state but have always been drawn back to the smaller, close-knit facilities. I started in the laboratory as a phlebotomist and that set me on the path of working on a Bachelor's in Clinical Laboratory Science degree at Idaho State University. Upon completion, I worked as a Medical Laboratory Scientist for a few years and decided it was time to go back to school to complete a Master of Business Administration with a Health Care emphasis at Northwest Nazarene University.
Having been born and raised in rural Montana, I’ve seen first-hand the benefit of the services that critical access hospitals and rural health clinics bring to small communities. I began my healthcare journey as a surgical assistant/ophthalmic tech for a private eye care center. Almost immediately, it was clear that my passion was on the administrative side of patient care. In 2008, I transitioned to a regulatory role focused on compliance, risk management, and quality, and this role allowed me to support rural and underserved communities by helping them meet the ever-changing regulatory demands of healthcare. I feel very fortunate to live and work in the Gooding community and be a part of the growth and excellence that is North Canyon Medical Center.
Joining North Canyon in 2014, I began in the Patient Financial Services department, where I worked in various roles. The experience and opportunities North Canyon has provided me for growth and development have been foundational in my career. My passion for celebrating, empowering, and helping people reach their potential is what ultimately lead me to Human Resources. Once committing myself to this path, I then earned my Bachelor of Science in Human Resources Management with a minor in Workplace Training from Idaho State University. I also earned my Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional credentials and actively participate in the Snake River SHRM Chapter.
Adjacent to my work-life, I spend my home-life adventuring with my husband. Sports have played a huge role in both of our lives and we still make time for that enthusiasm. Whether personally participating, watching, coaching, or going to support family, the time is well spent. With two bonus sons in college and one at home, the balance of time and attention between them and work has become second nature and each facilitates a deeper understanding of the other.
Joining the North Canyon team in April 2021 was the culmination of several goals for me and my family. Included in those goals was being part of a community and a care team focused on providing high quality care for rural communities. I started my healthcare career after completing master’s degrees in business and healthcare administration. As an intern and then leader at a startup called Health Catalyst, I learned the value of data analytics and process improvement. Just prior to joining North Canyon, I worked for the University of Utah managing two primary care practices and a large multi-specialty practice, where I developed a respect for the life changing care physicians and their teams can provide. I’m grateful to be part of an organization like North Canyon that is focused on our patients and powered by excellence. My wife grew up in Dietrich, ID, not too far from the medical center. We have three children who love sports and the outdoors. I am a fly-fishing enthusiast and enjoy training and hunting over bird dogs.
