When Should I Seek Treatment?

Knowing when to seek treatment for behavioral health disorders is critical. Oftentimes, families, spouses, or friends are the first to suspect that their loved one is challenged by feelings, behaviors, or environmental conditions that cause them to act disruptive, rebellious, or sad. This may include relationship problems with friends or family members, or challenges with work, school, sleeping, eating, substance abuse, emotional expression, development, coping, attentiveness, and responsiveness.

If you or a loved one is suffering from any of the following signs and symptoms of a behavioral health condition, we can help:

  • Persistent Sadness or Anxiety
Feeling down, hopeless, or excessively worried for an extended period.
  • Difficulty Coping with Daily Life
Struggling to manage work, relationships, or responsibilities.
  • Major Life Changes or Trauma
Experiencing grief, loss, abuse, or other significant stressors.
  • Increased Irritability or Mood Swings
Feeling unusually angry, frustrated, or emotionally overwhelmed.
  • Changes in Sleep or Appetite
Sleeping too much or too little, or experiencing a loss or increase in appetite.
  • Withdrawal from Family and Friends
Avoiding social interactions or losing interest in activities you once enjoyed.
  • Substance Use as a Coping Mechanism
Relying on alcohol or drugs to manage emotions or stress.
  • Difficulty Concentrating or Making Decisions
Feeling mentally foggy or unable to focus.
  • Physical Symptoms Without a Clear Cause
Unexplained headaches, stomach issues, or chronic pain linked to stress or emotions.
  • Thoughts of Self-Harm or Suicide
Experiencing thoughts of hurting yourself or feeling like life is not worth living.

No matter what you are feeling or facing, you are not alone.

Telepyschiatry Services by
University of Utah Health

At North Canyon, we are committed to providing high-quality mental health care through our psychiatry program, offered in partnership with University of Utah Health. Our telemedicine-based service ensures patients have access to specialized psychiatric care without the need for travel.

The primary focus of this program is medication management for a variety of psychiatric conditions. Board Certified physicians from University of Utah Health evaluate each patient’s needs and develop a personalized treatment plan, which often includes a recommendation for therapy services through North Canyon.

By combining expert medication management with integrated behavioral health support, we help patients achieve stability and improve their overall well-being.
